Sara Brune is a research associate in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University, where she obtained her PhD. Her research has been oriented to understanding farmers’ resilience and their strategies to attain sustainable livelihoods while being competitive in increasingly globally-oriented markets. Currently, her research focuses on the contribution of agritourism to local food systems’ sustainability and resilience. Brune’s research also seeks to build towards intersectionality across fields such as tourism, agriculture, education, and rural development.
