Shefali Juneja Lakhina

Shefali J Lakhina brings 21+ years of international experience and thought leadership on disaster resilience policy, practice, and research. Since 2004, she has led policy and research innovations for international humanitarian agencies, regional intergovernmental organizations, national authorities, city councils, and civil society organizations around the world. In 2020, she cofounded Wonder Labs to address the wildfire crisis through convergence research, policy advocacy, and seed investments in community-led innovations. In 2024, she founded FireUp, America’s first career and well-being platform for fire and forestry professionals. She is author of the annual State of FireTech Report, host of the FireTech Podcast, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Fire Ecology Journal’s Social Science Section, among others. In 2025, Lakhina led co-development of Wonder Labs' Let's Get Fire Ready Board Game––a collaborative wildfire resilience game designed to help ages 10+ learn about mitigation and resilience strategies through role play.
