Skip Edel

National Park Service

Skip Edel works for the National Park Service as a geospatial fire analyst focusing on spatial data acquisition and management for the NPS Branch of Wildland Fire at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho. Edel is involved as GIS specialist in wildfire incident response and the S-341 training class. 

Previously, Edel worked for the Colorado State Forest Service for 15 years, with 10 years as the GIS program manager where he was responsible for all aspects of GIS use, including project design, data management, training, and technical support. He has also worked at the State Forest and the Golden District. His job duties included timber inventory, fire suppression, prescribed fire, timber sale layout and design, sale administration, and working with the public. Edel has a bachelor's degree in forest management from Colorado State University.
