Stephen Murphy (PhD) is the disaster management MPH program director at Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. He has over 15 years of experience shaping local, state, federal government public health emergency preparedness, homeland security, and disaster management and resilience programs, including those addressing COVID-19, Ebola Virus Disease, hurricanes, coastal oil spills, as well as events of national significance such as the Super Bowl. Research interests include improving disaster resilience strategies and exploring breath biopsies as a rapid diagnostic in pandemics. In addition, he is passionate about teaching and currently teaches two graduate-level courses and one undergraduate course.
