Miner is a senior instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine. He previously served as executive director, Cornell Outdoor Education, where he co-founded Cornell Wilderness Medicine, a unique collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College, and as an assistant professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Miner earned a BS in anthropology from the University of Alaska, a master's from Alaska Pacific University, and a doctorate from Boston University. Recent research interests focus on designing austere medicine curricula and programming for at-risk populations including commercial fishers, wildland firefighters, and wildlife rangers.
