William Travis

Associate Professor

University of Colorado at Boulder

Travis’s teaching and research focus on human behavior in the environment, including studies of the human dimensions of extreme events, climate change, and the interaction of people and ecosystems. He was director of the University of Colorado Boulder Natural Hazards Center for eight years, from 1984 to 1991. His current projects apply risk and decision analysis to the adaptation process, examining especially the role of extreme events in driving adaptation or mal-adaptation in agriculture and infrastructure systems.
