Yvette C. Paulino is an epidemiology professor in the Health Sciences Program at the University of Guam. She is a Pacific Islander dedicated to achieving health equity through research, training, and community collaborations. Paulino leads research in the Pacific on the epidemiology and public health of areca nut and betel quid chewing, including oral precancer screening of areca nut and betel quid chewers, the effects of areca nut and betel quid chewing on the oral microbiome, a betel quid cessation program, and most recently exploring the role of areca nut and betel quid chewing in liver cancer development.
