Art and Culture in Disaster Recovery

In the aftermath of natural disasters, practical recovery is often the focus. Increasingly, however, we are realizing that art and culture play an important role in processing trauma and helping communities heal. This session will explore the differences between creating art as a way to heal and the impact of art itself. Creating art is cathartic for survivors and non-survivors alike, while consuming art does the same. How does this dynamic overlap in some ways and diverges in others?
