Rowena Rowie Kirby-Straker teaches environmental and risk communication courses in the Department of Communication at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She attained her PhD in communication from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests include environmental risk perception, narrative risk communication, community listening, and environmental justice. Before her career in academia, Rowie worked as an environmental educator in the Caribbean, where she served as a trainer of trainers in community disaster preparedness.
