Shirley Feldmann-Jensen is a scholar-practitioner with a broad background in emergency management and public health, both domestically and internationally. She earned her doctoral degree in policy, planning and development at the University of Southern California. She also holds a master's of public health degree from California State University Long Beach, and a graduate certificate in health emergency in large populations from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Feldmann-Jensen’s expertise and research interests are at the intersection of policy, disaster risk, and human health, with an emphasis on risk governance. Preparing the next generation to recognize and understand the patterns characteristic of disasters is her current focus as program coordinator and lecturer in the CSULB emergency services administration program. She is dedicated to fostering excellence in students and translating theory into practice.
