Business Continuity professionals help companies plan for everything from cyberattacks to supply chain disruptions to natural disasters. In the private sector, they fill a role loosely analogous to public sector emergency managers. In this session you will learn about the Business Continuity function, its history, and how it contributes to the overall resiliency of an organization. Speakers Russ Laughlin and Dan McCarter of the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of Association of Continuity Professionals will discuss the benefits of partnerships between private and public sector practitioners and how they can strengthen overall community resilience.

Russ Laughlin is an expert in cybersecurity, project management, and business administration, who recently retired from fifty years in the IT industry. His last twenty years were spent focusing on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. Laughlin remains active in the continuity community as a President of the Rocky Mountain Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP) and as a nonmedical volunteer with the Front Range Veterinary Medical Reserve Corp (FRvMRC) and Rocky Mountain Medical Reserve Corp (RMMRC).
Dan McCarter has served the resilience and continuity community for over 14 years, helping organizations of all sizes, from small financial institutions to large multinational organizations, protect their business and streamline their programs with technology. Today he represents Fusion Risk Management, a software company that helps clients through the beginning stages of their resilience journey. As the Director of Programs and Education for the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of Association of Continuity, McCarter arranges speakers for monthly meetings and manages outreach to local universities as well as shared events with other resilience related associations.
