After Hurricane Maria triggered nearly 70,000 landslides in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Geological Survey, the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez, and the Natural Hazards Center formed a unique collaboration to provide residents with scientific information, mitigation assistance, and risk communication guidance. Since then, they’ve worked with stakeholders to create the recently released Landslide Guide for Residents of Puerto Rico and a number of other culturally informed risk communication products.
Join us on June 9 in the next Making Mitigation Work webinar, Collaborative Risk Communication: Landslide Guide for Residents of Puerto Rico as team members share their experiences collaborating across agencies and institutions to help residents to help better understand and mitigate risk.
The webinar is the latest in the Making Mitigation Work webinar series, which is presented in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The free webinars feature innovative speakers and highlight recent progress in mitigation policy, practice, and research.
