Report Submission Guidelines: Weather Ready Research

These guidelines are for use by researchers who were funded as part of a Special Call for Weather Ready Research.

General Instructions

Before drafting your final report, please review the following style guidelines in full. Reports that do not follow these instructions will be immediately returned to the author for further revision. The following template can be used to easily create your Natural Hazards Center Research Award report.

Report style will closely follow the Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition; however, there will be some differences in the final format due to our web-based publishing system. The Purdue University Online Writing Lab is an excellent resource for APA and many other styles. We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with APA guidelines for inclusive and bias-free language.

Report Submission and Editing

Prior to submitting your final report, please make sure all authors submit biographies using this online form.

When your report is completely formatted and closely edited, please submit it as a Word document to the Natural Hazards Center at If your report adheres to these guidelines, it will then enter the review process. You will receive comments and any suggestions for revision within four weeks of submission.

After the report is finalized, it will be posted on the Natural Hazards Center Weather Ready Research Reports page and widely promoted.
