Last year the Federal Emergency Management Agency released its 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, which establishes a vision for a prepared and resilient nation. This session will open with an overview of the plan, with a specific emphasis on efforts to incentivize mitigation investments and to work with diverse people and communities to prepare for disaster. Panelists will then reflect on what it will take—in terms of public-private partnerships, cutting edge research, mentorship, grassroots action, and policy implementation—to overcome barriers to risk reduction while advancing mitigation and preparedness efforts at the local, state, and federal levels.
