Nothing About Us Without Us: How to Do More Engaging Outreach
Tuesday, July 13, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Disaster research and tools for strengthening communities at risk from hazards are key to creating resilience, but they must be applied equitably based on what residents need and value most. True engagement means reaching all community members and centering—not simply accommodating—their needs, skills, and capacities in decision-making. From there, abilities can be bolstered and well-informed solutions can be implemented. Panelists will discuss their experiences engaging with communities during disaster planning, response, and recovery to showcase successes in outreach and engagement.
