Amelia Hertzberg works in the Community Engagement and Assistance Division at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, D.C. She received a master's in public health with a focus on climate communications in 2022. Following her degree, she worked as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education fellow at the EPA, where she researched how to apply trauma-informed care principles to risk communication practices to improve short- and long-term outcomes for both the public and response personnel and developed a training for EPA staff. Now, as a full-time EPA employee, she delivers her training through EPA's Community Involvement University, helps to manage communications for the Community Change Grant Program's technical assistance, and acts as a liaison for the Region 5 office. She lives outside of D.C. with her husband, three boys, two dogs, one pugnacious rabbit, and one beleaguered cat.
