Researchers Meeting Acknowledgements

The Natural Hazards Center and CONVERGE teams and the leadership of the International Sociological Association Research Committee on Disasters (ISA-RC39) are pleased to convene the 2024 Researchers Meeting. We are especially grateful to be back in person again this year, and we thank all those who are attending this year’s meeting.

Special Thanks

The Natural Hazards Center, CONVERGE, and the ISA-RC39 wish to offer special thanks to the following people and organizations.

  • Rodrigo Costa and Alyssa Provencio, who served as chairs of this year’s Researchers Meeting. They had both previously served as members of the Organizing Committee, and this year stepped into this leadership role with great enthusiasm. They invigorated the entire planning process with their dedication to rigorous, multidisciplinary research, and the entire research community has greatly benefited from their service.
  • We are grateful for all the additional members of the Researchers Meeting Organizing Committee. Kyle Breen and Kristopher Young expertly served as lead session organizers this year. We also acknowledge the many contributions of Santina Contreras, Dontá Council, Oronde Drakes, Erica Gralla, Kanako Iuchi, Jennifer Lawrence, Melina Matos, Alexis Merdjanoff, Jason Rivera, Robert Soden, Alyssa Stansfield, Jennifer Trivedi, and Chandler Wilkins. These dedicated members of the Organizing Committee read, evaluated, and edited the abstracts and helped to assemble an intellectually engaging final program.
  • We thank the student volunteers, who offered their time and talent to ensure the successful execution of the Researchers Meeting.
  • Finally, we thank the program directors from the National Science Foundation who support science, engineering, and interdisciplinary research efforts in hazards and disasters. We are so grateful that they recognize the value in bringing together researchers to share our recent findings and to push the field forward.
