Pataya Scott is a civil engineer in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Earthquake and Wind Programs Branch. She is responsible for projects related to disaster mitigation for multiple hazards including wind, flood, and seismic with a focus on wind. Her broad range of building science mitigation activities includes developing technical guidance publications, policy development, field investigation deployments, trainings, and outreach. Scott also works with building codes and standards organizations to uphold and improve hazard-resistant provisions based on field investigation findings and related research. She holds bachelor’s degrees in architecture and civil engineering, a master’s in civil engineering with a focus on structures, and she just completed her PhD in wind engineering from Texas Tech University.
