Sarah DeYoung is an expert in applied social and community psychology. She is a faculty member in sociology and criminal justice and the Disaster Research Center at the University of Delaware. She has deployed for research fieldwork for ten major disaster events, including the Nepal (Gorkha) earthquake in 2015. She has been awarded research grants from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, the National Science Foundation, and the Natural Hazards Center. Her research areas include community engagement, evacuation decision-making, companion animals in disasters, and infant feeding in emergencies.
