Shingo Nagamatsu is a professor of risk and disaster economics and on the faculty of Societal Safety Sciences at Kansai University in Japan. His research concern is disaster management and recovery policy analysis. He was awarded a prize from the Public Policy Studies Association of Japan in 2010 for his publication on disaster management policy. His recent publications include "Targeting the Vulnerable People in Social Safety Net: Lessons of CFW Program for 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami Disasters in Japan" (Journal of Disaster Research, Vol. 11, No. 5) and Building Back a Better Tohoku from the March 2011 Tsunami - A Contradicting Evidence as a chapter of the forthcoming book Reconstruction and Restoration after the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy from August 2015 to September 2016.
