TyKeara Mims

Texas A&M University

TyKeara Mims is a DrPH candidate at Texas A&M University, concentrating in epidemiology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College and her Master of Public Health in community health education, with a minor in epidemiology, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Before starting her doctoral studies, Mims worked as a Commissioner’s fellow for the Tennessee Department of Health, which inspired her to pursue a doctorate in public health.

Currently, Mims works as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Texas A&M. She has mentored undergraduate and graduate students for the past three years in this role. Her research interests lie at the intersection of public health emergency preparedness, disaster research, and epidemiology.
