Welcome and Overview

First established in 1997, the Researchers Meeting has long served as a gathering place for hazards and disaster researchers who wish to share their scholarship with other professionals in the field. In 2025, we received more than 250 submissions for presentation and roundtables from students, early career scholars, and well-established researchers.

The Organizing Committee carefully reviewed each submission and assembled a dynamic program centered on the following key research areas:

  1. Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness
  2. Community Health and Well-Being
  3. Emergency Management
  4. Equity and Empowerment
  5. Data-Driven Risk Management
  6. Disaster Reconstruction, Recovery, and Relief
  7. Promoting Resilience

We hope you will join us for the research presentations, roundtable discussions, and other networking opportunities that will occur at this year’s meeting. Also, note that the abstracts for each presentation are available online.

We look forward to learning from you as we work together to advance hazards research and disaster science.
