COVID-19 and Hurricane Preparedness
Wed. 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. MDT
Safety measures associated with COVID-19, such as isolation, social distancing, and quarantine, can complicate disaster responses including mass sheltering and evacuation. The potential conflict between COVID-19 and natural hazard safety measures has important implications for population health and well-being, especially for vulnerable and medically fragile individuals. This session will highlight work being done by state, county, and local leaders, experts, and providers from public health, government, health care, community civic groups, and others to identify knowledge gaps, needs, and concerns related to the 2020 hurricane season under the current public health crisis.
