This panel will bring together experts focused on flash droughts—unusually rapid drought intensification over sub-seasonal time scales that are often associated with above normal temperatures and/or below normal precipitation. Panelists will review the current science on flash drought, share perspectives on how to improve scientific understanding of the phenomenon, and explore research on possible paths to improve flash drought early warning and preparedness.
