Monday, July 12, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Small- and medium-sized businesses that experience natural hazards can struggle with property damage, revenue reduction, disrupted supply chains, logistical issues, and threats to the health and safety of their employees. To improve the recovery process, these organizations need evidence-based recovery tools that can address their unique concerns, a trained research workforce that understands the social context of disasters, and business owners and employees who are trained to use resilience measures to protect their organizations. This panel will identify the skills necessary to carry out research on small- and medium-size business resilience to natural hazards and approaches for applying that knowledge to develop usable solutions and learning opportunities.
