Putting People First in Built Environments
Monday, July 12, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. MDT
Few built environment professionals receive training that integrates scientific knowledge on disaster risk reduction. Training that does exist is often limited by the view that technology is the solution to natural challenges. Human-centered building practices have the potential to make buildings and communities safer, more resilient, and more equitable. This panel will discuss the importance of supporting and improving the education of built-environment professionals who strive to reduce disaster risks and inequalities in multiple aspects of the building process.
