ShakeAlert and SAFRR: The Role of Evaluation in Reshaping Federal Hazards Programs
Wednesday, July 14, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT
As federal agencies work to address issues of climate change, more extreme weather, and geohazards, the need for actionable science that is responsive to diverse stakeholders is clear. In order to ensure that federal hazards programs are effective, it is crucial to evaluate how such programs are designed and implemented. Presenters in this session will discuss how evaluation research applied to the ShakeAlert earthquake early warning system and the Science Application for Risk Reduction (SAFRR) scenarios resulted in new tool and frameworks that could be applied to make the programs stronger.
