Jamie Brown Kruse is recognized for her research in economics and decision making under uncertainty especially as it relates to natural hazards. She completed her doctoral work at the University of Arizona under her dissertation advisor, Vernon Smith (2002 Nobel Laureate). Kruse has published over sixty refereed journal articles in addition to proceedings, abstracts, and reports. Her work has been supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Science Foundation, United States Geological Survey, United States Department of Energy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Federal Emergency Management Agency, United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and others. Kruse is a Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences distinguished professor of economics and the director of the Center for Natural Hazards Research at East Carolina University.
