Across the decades, hazards and disaster methods have evolved, new technologies and modes of communication have emerged, and each disaster has offered an opportunity for learning. This session will highlight lessons that have stood the test of time. Panelists—who share many years of experience studying disasters in the United States and globally—will share enduring insights and explore new research directions. They will also emphasize the power of cross-cultural comparative and longitudinal research in revealing universal, live-saving approaches.
