ShakeAlert Ready: Earthquake Early Warning for All

Wednesday, July 16, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT
Location: Centennial F

Earthquake early warning has the potential to provide seconds of life-saving time that can allow people to take protective action during a temblor. These warnings only work, though, if the associated systems and products are well implemented, promoted, and understood by the public. ShakeAlert—the U.S. Geological Survey-managed earthquake early warning system—has long recognized that it would take a community of partners and a strategic focus on co-creation, outreach, and education to assure it could realize its vision of earthquake early warning for all. Join panelists as they discuss the suite of ShakeAlert Ready products for schools, outdoor settings, and Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). They will also share how ShakeAlert’s approach to community partnership has shaped their work and cross-sector partnerships.
