The Future of Flood Risk Reduction, Recovery, and Adaptation
Monday, July 14, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken B
Disparities in flood exposure, infrastructure investments, and recovery outcomes have perpetuated “flood injustice” across the U.S. Flood injustice is present when flooding disproportionately harms people of color, low-income populations, and other socially marginalized groups. This panel will explore the complex social, political, engineered, and natural systems that drive this particular form of hazards inequality. Panelists will explore pathways toward equitable flood risk reduction, recovery, and adaptation through the introduction of a new initiative that aims to build nationwide flood safety.
