Christina Cain

The Foundation for Advancement in Conservation
Christina Cain is the emergency programs manager for the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation, a non-profit organization based out of Washington, D.C., where she manages the National Heritage Responders (NHR) and Alliance for Response (AFR) initiatives. The NHR are a corps of responders across the country who have expertise in cultural heritage preservation and are specially trained in disaster recovery for collections held by museums, libraries, archives, and the public through coordinated efforts with first responders, state agencies, and vendors. The AFR networks bring regional or state-wide cultural heritage and emergency management professionals together to build recovery capacity and resilience for arts and culture in communities at the local level.
Cain has been involved in emergency management for cultural institutions for the last 13 years and is also the co-chair of the Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force and Emergency Preparedness Chair for the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums. In this capacity, she provided support and advice for the recovery and rebuilding of the Superior Historical Museum in the aftermath of the Marshall Fire of 2021 by working with Town of Superior officials.
Cain holds a Master of Science in museum and field studies and has over 26 years of experience in collections management in art and anthropology museums, such as the Eiteljorg Museum, Denver Art Museum, and University of Colorado Museum of Natural History.
