Sara Meerow

Sara Meerow is an associate professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University where she leads the Planning for Urban Resilience Lab. She is an interdisciplinary social scientist working at the intersection of urban planning and geography to tackle the challenge of making cities more resilient in the face of climate change and other hazards, while at the same time more sustainable and just. Her research focuses on conceptualizations of urban resilience, climate change adaptation, and urban green infrastructure. Recent projects funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Department of Energy focus on developing and applying new methodologies to advance city planning and governance for resilience to extreme heat and flooding.
