Opportunities, Challenges, and Resources for Integrating Drought into Multi-Hazard Planning

Drought is a significant threat to communities across the nation, regularly impacting the day-to-day lives of millions of people as well as the nation’s economy. Collaborative and interdisciplinary networks are critical to addressing drought’s unique challenges, cascading impacts, and interlinked nature. This session will provide an overview of the opportunities and issues involved in integrating drought into multi-hazard planning, as well as the resources and information needed to move drought preparedness and early warning systems forward. Panelists will provide examples of local practitioners that have successfully integrated drought information into their planning and all-hazards mitigation processes.
