Amanda Savitt is a postdoctoral appointee at Argonne National Laboratory in the National Preparedness Analytics Center. At Argonne, Savitt supports a range of Federal Emergency Management Agency initiatives on emergency management workforce development and helps develop research and research products for a variety of audiences. Savitt has a PhD in emergency management from North Dakota State University. Her doctoral research focused on hazard mitigation, but also included evacuation decision making, functional needs in disasters, and hazard insurance. Her current research focuses on emergency management theory development and initiatives to help communities adapt to the disaster-related effects of climate change.
