Brandy Bishop is a proud member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and has lived in or near Grand Ronde for most of his life. After high school, Bishop joined the U.S. Navy to become a hospital corpsman but received an honorable medical discharge after almost two years of service. Returning home, he earned his certified medical assistant certificate and worked at his tribe's clinic before moving into a lead caregiver role at the adult foster care/assisted living facility. Later, Bishop became the site coordinator for his tribal car seat program and became a certified car seat technician.
After marrying and having four children, Bishop sought a role in community preparedness and safety, leading to a part-time position in emergency management. He completed community emergency response team courses, incident command system training, and pursued further education, including the Basic and Advanced Academy at the National Emergency Management Academy in Maryland and the Master Exercise Practitioner program through the National Emergency Management Association.
Over the past eight years, Bishop has designed, hosted, and completed numerous full-scale exercises in preparedness, communications, mass casualty, and more. His career in emergency management has been enriched by the relationships he's built and the invaluable experiences and lessons learned from the incredible people he's met along the way.
