Jacqueline (“Jack”) Meszaros is Science and Technology Advisor for Natural Hazards, Disasters and Resilience at the National Science Foundation (NSF), based in the Engineering Directorate. She manages awards for fast-response disaster research, helps coordinate disaster-relevant interagency activities, and runs the Disaster Resilience Research Grants competition. From 2015-2019, she served as the Senior Policy Advisor and Assistant Director for Natural Hazards Resilience at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Before joining NSF, Meszaros was a professor at the University of Washington, with research focused on decisions about ambiguous and low-probability risks, including earthquakes, accidents, and vaccines.
