Part of a dynamic and collaborative team, Janna Wilkinson joined the Utah Division of Emergency Management’s Mitigation and Recovery Section in 2015, and currently works as the section manager. She has deployed to assist in disaster recovery for both local and national disasters, most recently working on the Utah COVID-19, Magna earthquake, and September Windstorm events.
Wilkinson holds a master's in hazards and disaster management from Kingston University, London; a bachelor's of social work from Wheelock College, Boston; and is a certified floodplain manager. She has varied experience living, working, and volunteering in many countries around the world. Her professional interests include people in disasters; emergency management education and professionalism; community dynamics; disaster law, policy, and guidance; and vulnerable group advocacy. Some of Wilkinson's away from work hobbies include old home restoration, beekeeping, photography, and good food.
