Marcie R. Washington is an assistant teaching professor at the Florida International University (FIU) in the Politics and International Department and an affiliated faculty of the Extreme Events Institute–a FIU preeminent program. She received her PhD in conflict analysis and resolution from Nova Southeastern University. She also has a master’s degree in international affairs from Florida State University. She studies conflict and cooperation and the social, political, economic vulnerabilities of disaster risk and resilience. She is the co-principal investiagor for the Mellon grant-funded, local-to-global Commons for Justice Race, Risk, and Resilience project.
