In fall 2022, Musabber Ali Chisty will join the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, as a PhD student. He will also work as a graduate teaching assistant in the department. In addition, Musabber will also join Natural Hazards Center as a graduate affiliate from next fall. Back in Bangladesh, Musabber is an assistant professor at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) at the University of Dhaka. He joined the institute as a lecturer in the year 2019. Before this, he was a lecturer at the Department of Disaster and Human Security Management at the Bangladesh University of Professionals. Chisty completed his bachelor's and master's degree at the IDMVS. He also has completed a second master's in geographic information system (GIS) from Jahangirnagar University. His research focuses on natural hazards, specifically floods, community involvement in disaster management, disaster risk reduction and resilience, disaster, and development nexus, disaster governance, resilience through sustainable development, etc. Musabber has several publications in the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction (IJDRR), Disaster Prevention and Management (DPM), Journal of Emergency Management, Health Science Reports, Plos One, Sustainability, Water, and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, etc.
