Rachel Dryden Steratore is a policy researcher at the RAND Corporation with expertise in helping people make risk-informed decisions on topics ranging from weather and climate risk to decision-making on artificial intelligence technologies. Recognized as a 2023 National Science Foundation Ocean Decade Champion, Steratore's research is dedicated to integrating equity considerations into resilient and effective decision-making processes for risk reduction. Currently, Steratore leads projects centered on enhancing the Wireless Emergency Alert system's effectiveness for underserved and unserved populations, and on studying how tribal Alaskans perceive and address natural hazards. Her work aims to promote equity and resilience in disaster preparedness and response efforts.
