Roy Torbert is the head of programs at Third Derivative, a global venture capital accelerator that helps climate tech entrepreneurs find a faster, more reliable path to market. Torbert leads work in sectors critical to climate: heavy industry, power, transportation, buildings, carbon markets, and others. Third Derivative's portfolio of climate startups now numbers 198 and spans across more than 20 countries and numerous critical innovations. Torbert was previously at Google as a business executive for district systems and energy, focused on microgrids for mixed-use urban districts. Before that, he was a senior principal at the Rocky Mountain Institute, overseeing resilience and climate programs in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, including post-disaster power sector rebuilding.
