Samantha Montano is an assistant professor in the emergency management program at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. She has a PhD in emergency management from North Dakota State University. In addition to research on various emergency management issues, she advocates for the dissemination of emergency management research findings to practice and the public. Montano has been published in the The New York Times, Washington Post, Teen Vogue, and Vox, among others. In addition, she is the author of Disasterology: Dispatches From The Frontlines of The Climate Crisis.
