Shriya Thakkar is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Louisiana State University. Her research interests focus on aspects of health and aging, particularly in the contexts of disasters, gender, migration, and race. Prior to her doctoral training, she was an Erasmus Mundus Scholar and earned her MA in gender studies from Utrecht University. Thakkar has authored various publications with some of her selected works appearing in the Journal of Urbanism, Economic & Political Weekly, Violence Against Women, International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, and Scientific Reports.
