Wesam Mohamed is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Mohamed's research focuses on the resilience of communities and the built environment against natural hazards, particularly tornado-related ones. Having completed his Master of Science degree at Western University in Canada, Mohamed conducted research on the progressive failure of transmission line towers under different tornado wind fields. Within the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Graduate Student Council (GSC) community, Mohamed served NHERI-GSC as the Wind Engineering Research Subcommittee representative, contributing to discussions and initiatives aimed at advancing wind engineering research. He currently serves as a member of the NHERI-GSC executive committee as the vice-chair of membership.
