Yoshio Kajitani is a professor at Kagawa University in Japan. His studies have focused on disaster risk management, especially on the socioeconomic impacts of triggering hazards. His academic interests include statistics, economics, transportation and utility engineering and applying them to the field of disaster reduction, recovery and risk governance. He received the Sir Richard Stone Prize from the International Input–Output Association and Best Paper Award from the Society for Risk Analysis for his papers validating engineering and economic models in real disasters. He experienced many post-disaster surveys in Japan and the world and have reflected the lessons in the modeling framework.
