Community-Led Relocation: Lessons From 20 Years of International Research
Tuesday, July 15, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Pine
As the world warms and becomes less hospitable, people are on the move. In response, governments are trying to develop climate-focused policies and programs to facilitate their relocation. This session will feature members of an international learning lab that has advanced a 20-year comparative study and international policy counsel on relocation and buy-out programs between the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Panelists will share lessons learned to inform community-led relocation policy, planning, design, and community engagement. They will also discuss future directions for this collaboration, including the development of an applied research, teaching, and community engagement agenda.
