Critical Infrastructure and Energy—What Does a Resilient Future Hold?
Tuesday, July 15, 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. MDT
Location: Ponderosa
When disasters strike, power grid failures and the loss of other critical infrastructure—like water, sanitation, or communication technology—amplify damage and threats to human health. For example, Hurricane Helene knocked out power for more than five million people across the Southeast. And Texas’ 2021 Winter Storm Uri caused blackouts that were linked to more than 50 deaths. This roundtable will invite attendees to discuss the challenges and opportunities around establishing more energy resilience in the United States and beyond. Facilitators will introduce timely energy resilience topics for small group discussions, including utility wildfire mitigation planning, microgrids, resilience hubs, energy resilience best practices, and more.
