Better Outcomes: Strategies to Improve Health and Well-Being
Mon. 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., Centennial E
How do we align research questions and policy applications to save lives, reduce injury, and improve mental health outcomes in disaster?
Reducing morbidity and mortality in disaster has been a long-standing goal of hazards researchers and practitioners. While remarkable progress has been made in this regard, events of the last two decades remind us that the risk for death, injury, and long-term emotional distress remains. This session will explore new ideas for bringing researchers, policy makers, and practitioners together before disaster strikes to identify pressing questions, available data sources, and innovative research strategies with an eye toward improving policy applications and health outcomes.
