What did the 2017 disaster season teach us that we did not already know?

Researchers have been systematically studying disasters for decades, and practitioners and volunteers have been responding for even longer. This session will invite panelists and audience members to reflect on what the highly active disaster season of 2017 taught us that we did not already know. Panelists will also offer guidance on using new knowledge to improve current and future practice.
